• Why verify my account?

    We all want to live and do business in a safe and trustworthy environment. Additional verification helps to create high-quality partnership both between Paxful and our users and amongst traders on our marketplace. This becomes possible by means of KYC. Overall, there are 4 verification levels. All of them bring benefits to Paxful users:

    Level 1

    • Requires email and phone verification. Increases security level of the account, provides access to a higher amount of offers, creates a higher level of trust. Trading volume limit is up to $1,500.

    Level 2

    • Requires ID verification. Increases trading volume limits, provides access to additional trading methods such as Bank Transfer. Is necessary to create offers to Buy bitcoins. Trading volume limit is up to $10,000.

    Level 3

    • Requires Address verification. Increases trading volume limits, provides access to additional trading methods such as Bank Transfer. Trading volume can be $10,000 and higher.

    Level 4

    • Requires additional verifications such as EDD (Enhanced Due Diligence) or CDD (Customer Due Diligence). Increases trading volume limits. May be requested for significantly high volume institutional/corporate accounts.

  • Email verification

    Email verification is an essential step as it gives you the opportunity to start trading on Paxful. It also increases the security level of your account in case it needs it to be restored or unlocked.

    Step-by-step guide: 

    1. Log in to your Paxful account, hover over your username located on the upper right of the page and click “Settings.”

    2. On the menu on the left side of the page, click “Profile.”

    3. To begin, click the “Resend code.”

    4. Check your email inbox. Click on the link provided in it. In case of success in Profile you will see the following message:

  • Phone verification

    Phone verification is required by many offer owners on Paxful. It also provides additional security features to your account. For example, if your account is locked due to security reasons, you can easily unlock it if you have a phone registered in your account. It is also essential for 2FA security option.

    Step-by-step guide: 

    1. Log in to your Paxful account, hover over your username located on the upper right of the page and click “Settings.”

    2. On the menu on the left side of the page, click “Profile.”

    3. To begin, insert your phone number and click "Call Me" or "Send Code". Once you receive a code, insert it into the correct field and click Submit.

    4. You will receive a message that your phone is verified.

     

  • ID verification step-by-step

    1. Log in to your Paxful account, hover over your username located on the upper right of the page and click “Settings.”

    3. To begin, click the “Start Verification Process.”

    4. Choose the appropriate issuing country and ID type you will be providing.

    5. Submit an image of your ID document, which will be checked to ensure it is legitimate and has not been altered or manipulated. Accepted IDs are passport, National ID card (in the new format), driver’s license and voter's card.

    7. You’ll be notified about your application in just a few minutes! Check your notification inbox if your application has been approved or declined. You can also check your email inbox.

  • Is ID verification mandatory?

    Everyone is encouraged to verify their accounts. However, Paxful do has mandatory ID verification for the following users only:

    • Users who reach an equivalent of $1,500 in trade volume or wallet activity must provide ID for verification.
    • Users who reach $10,000 in trade volume or wallet activity must provide ID and address verification.
    • Users who reach higher trade volumes or engage in certain wallet activity may undergo enhanced due diligence and may be asked for additional information.
    • All buyers of bitcoin for bank transfer must provide ID and address verification. 

    What if I don’t want to verify my account?

    Those who choose not to participate can, of course, continue to use Paxful services but there will be a trade and wallet limit in place for those who have not verified themselves.

     

  • ID verification requirements

    Here you can find the main requirements, which are essential to make ID verification process quick and successful:

    • You must be 18 years or older.
    • You must have a valid email address.
    • Only personal documents can be used.
    • Only the following ID types* are accepted:
    • Passport
    • National ID card (in the new format)
    • Driver’s license
    • Voter’s card
    • ID documents should be valid up to the date of the verification request submission.
    • Paper format of ID documents is not accepted.
    • Selfie should be in a photo format and not a scanned picture.
    • All files uploaded should be original. No editing is allowed.
    • All files should be clearly visible, high quality, JPEG format, all information should be readable, should not be covered by any passport covers or other objects.
    • Data on the document should match entered data in the form.
    • If your document is written in a language that does not use the English alphabet, please translate and attach the following statement:

    “I hereby certify that the attached is an official and accurate translation of my document (document type). If found otherwise, Paxful has my authorization and full right to suspend my account and not refund the balance due to false information (Name and translation date)(Signature)."

    * Please note that the option of accepted ID documents depends on your country

     

  • Address verification

    Address verification is requested once your trading volume reaches $10,000. It is possible to verify your address only after ID verification is confirmed.

      For Address Verification you need: 

    • Bank statement
    • Utility bill
    • Credit card Statement

    Step-by-step guide:

    1. In the drop-down menu, select your country and the type of document you will provide: bank statement, utility bill, or credit card statement.

    2. Upload the document you selected. Remember to submit a proof of address that is less than 3 months old. If you do submit an older document, you will have to restart the verification process.

  • Address verification requirements

    • It must be a legal and traceable document (e.g. scanned papers, official PDF downloads, etc.) displaying your full name and residential address. Example of an appropriate document includes utility bill, bank statement or credit card statement.
    • The address must be your current physical residential address (no older than 3 months). P.O. box address is not accepted.
    • Your document should be in English (Latin letters).
    • Your document must be in full color and must not be cropped.
    • Address on the document must match with the entered address by you.
    • If your document is written in a language that does not use the English alphabet, please translate and attach the following statement: “I hereby certify that the attached is an official and accurate translation of my document (document type). If found otherwise, Paxful has my authorization and full right to suspend my account and not refund the balance due to false information (Name and translation date)(Signature)." Review of such request may take up to 2 weeks.
  • Verification issues and solutions

    There are several reasons why your verification may be denied. They are as follows: 

    • The photo you submitted is unreadable or low in quality.
    • You uploaded an incorrect document.
    • ID was uploaded in paper format.
    • ID was uploaded as Selfie and vice versa.
    • Verification link is not visible.
    • ID is expired.
    • Provided documents do not belong to the account holder.
    • A trace of editing was detected (docs are not original).
    • Selfie is not a photo but a scanned picture.
    • Document does not have Latin letters.
    • You have reached the limit of verification attempts.

    Here are guidelines on how to solve possible issues with verification:

    • The photo you submitted is unreadable or low in quality. 

    Submit again verification on our website. Login and upload everything as required. Please note that photo must be in JPEG format and high quality, always make close and visible pictures. This refers to the selfie as well. Please remove all covers from the document and make sure it is not covered by any objects.

    • You uploaded an incorrect document. 

    Please submit verification using your passport, National ID card, driving license or voter’s card (National ID card should be in a new format). Student’s card or any other ID card are not supported by our Verification Provider.

    • ID was uploaded in paper format. 

    Please submit verification using your passport, National ID card, driving license or voter’s card (National ID card should be in a new format). The document must be of a new format and not paper format.

    • ID was uploaded as Selfie and vice versa.  

    Please try again and upload your document and selfie in the correct section of Paxful verification form. Please make sure that both your document and your selfie are clearly visible and are of high quality.

    • Verification link is not visible. 

    Please kindly submit again verification on our website. Before you will try to submit verification, please clear cache and cookies, log out and close the browser. Open it again, login and upload everything as required. 

    • ID is expired. 

    If you received an error message that your identification is expired, you may upload an alternative ID such as your passport, national ID or driver’s license your ID should have an expiry date on it. 

    • Provided documents do not belong to the account holder. 

    Please upload documents which match with the details on the account: name, last name, country. The photo on the ID must match with the selfie. 

    • A trace of editing was detected (documents are not original). 

    Please resubmit the original documents on our website without editing. Pictures must be in full color, no cropping, no other manipulations are allowed with the photo. 

    • Selfie is not a photo but a scanned picture. 

    Please note that in a section for Selfie you should upload photos only (no scanned pictures). No other formats are accepted. 

    • ID does not have Latin letters. 

    If your document is written in a language that does not use the English alphabet, please translate and attach the following statement: “I hereby certify that the attached is an official and accurate translation of my document (document type). If found otherwise, Paxful has my authorization and full right to suspend my account and not refund the balance due to false information (Name and translation date)(Signature)." 

    • You have reached the limit of verification attempts. 

    Please note that we have a limit of 3 attempts per user for verification requests within each 24h. It may be necessary to wait for 24h since your last verification attempt. Please remain assured that in case of success your account will be definitely unfrozen.
